Gardening
Community In Bloom is a nationwide gardening programme that helps to start and develop Community Gardens in public and private estates, schools, and organisations.
Nature Kakis Chapters can join and collaborate with community gardens to engage communities. In addition to being edible, plants can be grown to support wildlife, to be used in therapeutic horticulture, and to be shared as cuttings or seeds with the community. Community Gardens have lots of potential to be a starting point for communities to learn about our City in Nature!
Other than directly growing plants, Nature Kakis can also work with Community In Bloom Ambassadors, who are passionate volunteers that go above and beyond to spread the love of gardening.

Garden Open Houses
Having an open house at a community garden is a great way to bring people together to learn more about plants and greenery!
Harvest sharing
By coordinating the growing of edible plants between gardens, Nature Kakis chapters can organise a harvest sharing event with other community groups. This encourages the sharing of resources and knowledge among different groups, fostering a sense of unity and cooperation within the community.
Planting for biodiversity
Growing plants that provide food and nesting materials for local biodiversity have several benefits. By cultivating such plants, the community can attract and support various forms of wildlife, including butterflies, bees, and birds. This not only enhances the natural environment but also provides an opportunity for the community to observe and appreciate the diverse wildlife that can thrive in their local area. Additionally, it promotes ecological awareness and conservation efforts by creating a habitat that supports the needs of local wildlife.
