Who we are
The Nature Kakis Network is a touchpoint centred at the heart of local communities that will make City in Nature-related initiatives more accessible for members of the public to participate in. The initiative aims to encourage greater appreciation and community stewardship of nature, by bringing together passionate like-minded individuals to share and exchange ideas with others in the wider community on how to conserve and steward our natural heritage.
The objective of the initiative is for Nature Kakis Chapters to be established islandwide where they can self-organise and lead City in Nature-related projects and programmes, for the community and by the community, with the support of partners, grassroots organisations, and agencies including the National Parks Board (NParks) and People’s Association (PA).

What we do
With the support of NParks, grassroots and various community groups, Nature Kakis stewards:
Cultivate environmental stewardship in the community: Design, plan and implement a range of City in Nature activities for the community, while mobilising grassroots and constituencies to build cohesive communities through City in Nature activities and dialogues;
Build capabilities of Nature Kakis within their Chapters: Participate in capacity building programmes (e.g. inductions and trainings) to equip and empower Nature Kakis volunteers with the necessary skillsets to self-organise activities;
Strengthen the Nature Kakis Network: Connect and network with other Nature Kakis Chapters and partners, learn more about City in Nature initiatives, and share experiences; and
Expand the pool of volunteers in their Nature Kakis Chapter.

Nature Kakis Youth Stewards
Under NParks' annual Youth Stewards for Nature (YSN) programme, a passionate group of youth volunteers also support wide-ranging initiatives to grow the Nature Kakis Network. These range from publicity and recruitment efforts over website and social media platforms, to event planning and facilitaiton for networking and capacity-building programmes.
Visit @nparksyouths on Instagram to find out more about youth development opportunities with NParks and the Nature Kakis Network. Application for the next run of YSN opens in November each year.
