Building of Nature Kakis Network
To support Nature Kakis Chapters in their programmes—resources and trainings on subject matters will be provided to the Nature Kakis Chapters. National Parks Board (NParks) has developed a comprehensive framework for capacity building consisting of various opportunities in different mediums. The Induction Programme series comprises five annual sessions covering topics on biodiversity and wildlife, arboriculture, horticulture, community engagement, and planning for City in Nature activities. These sessions aim to equip Nature Kakis with a comprehensive understanding of nature-related issues and community involvement, as well as the necessary skills to lead City in Nature activities. The programme serves as a launchpad into NParks' work and the potential roles of Nature Kakis in selected programmes, featuring hands-on interactive elements and expert speakers. Each session focuses on a different topic, encouraging Nature Kakis to deepen their knowledge, gain insights into NParks programmes, and engage with speakers.

These topic specific sessions are based on chapters’ interests and goes in-depth on nature conservation, human-wildlife matters, local biodiversity, gardening, therapeutic horticulture, and community animals.
Training opportunities
Nature Kakis will receive hands-on training in event planning and facilitation, and the opportunity to learn and work with experienced experts and community leaders. Chapters may also learn more about engaging their community through targeted trainings sessions with the subject experts. The training sessions will be arranged based on the interests of the chapters.
Structured training programmes for Nature Kakis
All trainings are provided to enable Nature Kakis to self-run activities when they are capable.We encourage Nature Kakis Chapters to take advantage of these trainings and to conduct engaging nature activities for their community. With the skills and knowledge gained from the trainings, Nature Kakis can make a meaningful contribution to the City in Nature vision and inspire others to do the same. These training opportunities are designed by the various NParks divisions for the Nature Kakis network, serving to equip Nature Kakis with practical skills and deepen their knowledge. the City in Nature vision and inspire others to do the same.

Activity What can Nature Kakis do? DIY Nature Walks Participate in organised training walks to learn how to be a Nature Guide. Community Animals Participate in a training programme to learn more about issues surrounding community animals and pets in Singapore and be equipped with skills to help address them. Biodiversity and Wildlife Participate in training to learn how to facilitate citizen science activities. OneMillionTrees Movement Participate in the training programme to become an OneMillionTrees facilitator and conduct tree planting activities within the community. * The duration and contents of the training programmes will be customised according to the needs of each chapter.
Next Steps
As Nature Kakis progress through the training programmes, they will develop their skills, enabling them to bring more City in Nature initiatives into the heartlands and lead these activities for the community, by the community.
Established chapters will also receive a publicity starter kit (inclusive of one pull up banner, one A4 poster and Nature Kakis collar pins).
Established Nature Kakis Chapters can apply for the Nature Kakis Seed Fund to fund and facilitate the preparation and implementation of their programmes.
