WHO WE ARE
Who we are?
The Nature Kakis initiative is a network of chapters that form touchpoints centred at the heart of local communities. This platform aims to accelerate the mainstreaming of City in Nature programmes into the heartlands to encourage greater appreciation and community stewardship of nature. We aim to establish Nature Kakis Chapters island-wide to self-organise and lead projects, for the community, by the community, with support from partners, grassroots organisations and agencies including National Parks Board (NParks) and People’s Association (PA). Each Nature Kakis Chapter will be community-driven and bring together individuals who share a passion for nature and conservation.

Roles of Nature Kakis Stewards
With the support of NParks, Grassroots and the various community groups, Nature Kakis stewards will be:
-
Cultivating Environmental Stewardship in the Community: Design, plan and implement a range of City in Nature activities for the community, while mobilising grassroots and constituencies to build cohesive communities through City in Nature activities and dialogues;
-
Building capabilities of Nature Kakis within their Chapter: Participate in capacity building programmes (e.g. induction and training) to equip and empower Nature Kakis volunteers with necessary skillsets to self-organise activities;
-
Strengthening Nature Kakis Network: Connect and network with other Nature Kakis Chapters and partners, learn more about City in Nature initiatives, and share experiences and
-
Expanding pool of volunteers in Nature Kakis Chapter.
We also have a large group of passionate Nature Kakis Youth Stewards who are working on nature kakis related projects, such as (i) publicity and communications for events organised for nature kakis, (ii) creating and managing social media, such as Nature Kakis Network new Instagram and Facebook Page pages, (iii) recruitment, (iv) digital mapping and (v) strategic programmes. We will be opening up for recruitment in October every year. Follow us on Instagram (@NatureKakis_Network) or Facebook Page (Nature Kakis Network) to stay updated!
